Sweet LCD and great entry into 3DTV

LN46C750 46-Inch 1080p 3D LCD

Bought this TV after I learned that the World Cup would be broadcast in 3D. Had to switch to DirectTV in order to watch, but that's another story.
This is a
GREAT LCD tv, even if you
don't have any 3D content to watch yet. Excellent contrast, cool features, and
it looks nice too. If you want it for the 3D you won't be let down. All my friends
are impressed that the 3D doesn't look "cheezy" like you might expect from movies.
It is more like HD times 2. You get crystal clear picture and amazing depth
perception.
I recommend this TV for entry into
3D. But I would say
if you have the money, get the biggest 3DTV you can realistically afford. With
3D, the bigger the screen size the better.

Super Bright Clear Fast 3D LED TV
May 22, 2010
By Kirby A. Van Horn (Lewistown, MT USA)
I have delayed upgrading to HDTV for quite a while waiting for better technology
and lower prices. I decided to try the Samsung 40 inch
LED
HDTV capable of 3D after watching a number of different sets from a number
of different manufacturers. I specifically avoided the Plasma type TVs due to
the large amount of Radio Frequency Interference that they generate. The Samsung
TV has a beautiful bright Clear color picture and meets all of my expectations!!
On black and white shows, the picture is almost too good as it is very crisp!
On 3D movies, using the required 3D glasses, the picture is just plain astounding!!!!!
It feels like you are in the middle of the action. For the price, the 40 inch
Samsung is highly recommended as a
BEST
BUY by me!!! If you want to watch 3D blu-ray movies, you must purchase the
3D specific Blu-Ray player from Samsung, as well as the Samsung 3D glasses.
Not inexpensive, but well worth the money!! I LOVE Mine!

After a few weeks of research I finally settled on the Samsung UN46C7000. At
the time it was about $250 cheaper on Amazon.com than in any local business
that and for whatever reason Wal Mart, Best Buy, etc... did not carry the 46
inch TVs, it was either 40 or 55. Also at the time Amazon.com was running a
promo to get a free
3D Blu Ray player and starter kit
(worth around $700-800) with the purchase of the TV. I received the TV after
about 10 days, there was a mix up with the local carrier that when I called
to question the status of the delivery, they told me they were waiting for me
to call them to schedule delivery.
The first thing you notice when you take it out of the box is it is super thin and light. This TV is easily lighter than the older LCD 40 inch Samsung I had bought my parents. I could move and mount it by myself if needed, but I don't recommend that. Setup was easy, most of everything is just plug and play. However for everything that is not HDMI (VGA or CAT5 cables for example) the TV requires a special adapter for, which are all included. I assume this is to keep the slimness of the TV.
The picture quality is amazing. If you are watching a Blu Ray it will look as if you're looking through a window and not a TV. Some of my friends however have complained that it looks "too real" and it looks like you're watching "the making of" instead of the actual movie itself. It does take a bit to get used to, but once I adjusted to the "realness" I love it. The auto motion 240hz feature makes everything incredibly smooth, you can turn the feature on or off in case you don't like the "real life" look.
The 3D aspects of the TV are stunning. I have only viewed Monsters vs Aliens 3D and some of the Playstation 3's 3D demos. It really does look like things are reaching out at you. The TV also has a 2D to 3D conversion, this will not make things pop out at you, but it will add a lot of depth to what you are viewing, as if you could stick your hand into the TV. However, you need the glasses in order to view it. Everyone watching will need a pair because watching it without the glasses things are very blurry and it can strain your eyes. .
The Sound on the TV I can't say much about, they're good for TV speakers but you can't get a TV like this and use the default speakers, some sort of surround sound set up is a must. I personally use the Samsung HT-Z522 Home Theater System and it makes for an awesome in home movie experience. .
The TV stand is solid, I have used it and another mounting system. The TV is light enough I would be comfortable wall mounting it if I wanted too. I currently have the TV mounting on a swivel on the Bell'O TPC2127 Triple Play Universal Flat Panel Audio Video System with Swivel Mount. The remote is a very nice looking remote and and super easy to navigate. There is a button to back light all of the buttons, and it works as an on/off switch. (It will stay lit until you turn it off) .

Great TV, But Not Perfect

I just got the TV a couple of weeks a go and decided to post my first review ever on Amazon, as well this is the largest purchase I've made. This is my first LCD purchase in a while, I've had a Pioneer Plasma that I've loved forever, but just moved to Boston and left the Pioneer back home. The picture is extremly clear, almost too clear, sometimes I feel like the TV shows are live action TV, which takes a bit to get used too. The features seem great. I read through some of the comments, I'm pretty sure the C8000 doesn't have WIFI, as it wasn't an option, but I had ethernet right behind the TV so I didn't dig super deep. The Internet options are great, can't wait to try netflix out. The Yahoo gadget bar is cool and the Internet TV seem great, first time I've had these options on a TV. .
I watched the masters in 3D, pretty cool, but your eyes get tired pretty quick, active 3D makes your eyes work more than passive 3d IMHO. I'm stuck with crappy comcast in my new building, so no 1080P coming through for other channels. I did the 3D combo and got monsters vs aliens. Wife and I watched a bit of it to check out the 3D. Way better quality than the Masters in 3D, but to be honest when I remember watching HDTV for the first time versus Standard TV, that leap was way bigger than from HDTV to 3DTV, maybe when more content comes out. I was hoping to get Avatar 3D, but those jerks are going to wait a year before releasing it. But atleast Comcast has the 3D Channel, maybe they will do more events in the future. .
TV is beautiful, nice and thin. One comment about the C9000 it won't support the pin-point dimming, so the C8000 is Samsungs best picture TV. That touchscreen remote can be purchased, but it won't allow you to watch TV on the remote with the C8000 like the C9000 does. .
Setup was simple, haven't really dug deep into the features. Sound is OK, but then again I'm used to my home theatre. Does extremely well with the glare and I haven't mounted it on the wall and I'm using the standard stand, comes in handy to turn it slighty to get the glare from the sun out of the picture. .
One more thing the 3D mode has some ghosting, I wonder if that will be fixed over time. I do think it is worse when your eyes get tired though. I don't mind the glasses, but I wouldn't wear them in public ;-) .
If you are getting a new TV, go for this one, don't be put off by the 3D as a gimic, all TVs are going to ship with them, I don't think you are paying a premimum for the HD. I still love my Pioneer Plasma, the thing is 6 years old and still has a great picture, but this is way better than the two Sharp LCDs I own, espicially the one I dropped and broke the screen on. .

I saw this TV in a store and was blown away by the picture quality. The price was too high so I didn't buy it. I checked on Amazon and saw the price was almost $800 cheaper so I bought it here. We have not had any issues at all with the TV (had it since April 24th) and the guys that brought it into the house were great. They set it all up and took away all of the boxes.

Let me start by saying that I do own this TV, and it is replacing the c7000 model. About a month ago I walked into a local retailer and asked when the 3D sets were coming out, to my surprise they had just received the first shipment of C7000 3D ready sets from Samsung. After spending about a half an hour checking out the TV, and asking a lot of questions I decided to take the plunge and purchase the TV, 3D Blu-Ray player, and starter kit. My intentions were not to buy a new set that day, but it was getting to be time to upgrade anyway so I wanted to have something with some "wow factor" for a while. A friend and I loaded up the set and got the connections made, cracked a couple of beers and checked out my new investment. There were mixed reactions to say the least. Once the novelty of the 3D wears off you can be really critical of that model. Huge amount of "crosstalk" on the picture, and cloudy bright spots with "flashlighting" in the bottom two corners. Very disappointing. I went back to the store to look at the display model again and did not see a fraction of the issues that my set was showing. The salesperson said that the Panasonic Plasma should be coming in any day and they expected it to be light years ahead of the Samsung in picture quality, black level, no crosstalk, etc.
After a week or so I went in to see the Panasonic that was now also on display only to see the same issues with crosstalk in 3D. The 2D experience on the Panasonic was quite good but at the time the only size available was 50", and I was replacing a 62" set and really didn't want to make that drastic of a change. So on bright pictures the Samsung was absolutely stunning! In a dark room while watching a dark movie the picture was just unacceptable for a TV in this price range. At this point I figured that I would return the TV, and wait for one of the larger Panasonic's to hit the stores.
Then I saw that the C8000 was being released earlier than expected, and had new technology called Pinpoint Dimming. After doing quite a bit of reading reviews, and others' experience with the Samsung locally dimmed set's I decided to give Samsung another chance before going to Plasma. Amazon had the TV for sale before my local retailer so I placed the order and crossed my fingers that I would not be returning two new TV's instead of one. Well let me wrap this up by saying that I am sooooo glad that I made this choice! The C8000 is absolutely stunning in aesthetic quality, and is the best picture quality I have probably ever seen! Dare I say it is even better than the 8500 from last year that gets such great reviews. There is no flashlighting, the black levels are completely pitch black, and as another reviewer already stated, once you get the picture dialed in the way you like it there really is no comparison. Everyone that sees the TV in my house has to stop and watch for a while, in fact, the downside to owning it is that I can't get people to go home!
Now with that being said, there are some minor observations that would be different
in a perfect world. If you put this set in a large room and watch it from a
large angle you will lose some of the black levels, and for the price it really
should have wifi built in. Also, in the menu's it seems that some settings should
be grouped together under the headings, so you have to jump around in the menu's
a bit to get your set dialed in, but this is typically not something you will
be doing all the time. Other than that I really can't see a problem with it.
When considering the
C7000 or C8000
do yourself a favor and choose the latter. Even if this set was hundreds of
dollars more it would be worth it. This one will be hard to beat.
UPDATE: After having the TV for about a week it started having some technical issues like switching sources randomly, and changing the picture settings for no reason. Samsung tech support was very good and we thought initially the problems were being caused by the Logitech remote I use, however after increased tech issues the TV had to be returned. Being that the picture quality is so exceptional on this set I have already replaced it with another one of the same model purchased at retail (for much less money actually) and am keeping my fingers crossed that this one does not have any technical issues. I am leaving my review at five stars simply because every so often you can get a bum product, or something could have happened during shipping, but have to say that Samsung, and Amazon have been really great about taking care of me on this, and the picture quality really is very good. Reading the other reviews I am surprised that anyone would not give this a five star rating. When replacing my C8000 I checked out one of the last B8500's still available, and side by side I have to say that not only me, but most people in the store were more impressed with the C8000. By the way, I have owned several products that C-net gave very high ratings that I had no success with, and vice versa, so I really think it comes down to your own expectations on a purchase like this.

Wow! I love my new TV. I got this tv 6 days ago. I can't believe how many people asked if I had to always watch in 3D with the glasses on, NO. I have a hard time reading these bad reviews. This plasma has a beautiful display. If you don't like the display of so called soap opera effect why not tune the settings to your liking? Star Trek in HD looks crystal clear, is that what you people mean by soap opera effect? lol. And everyone I've asked has never heard about plasma tv's buzzing? Weird. It took me one night to get used to the 3D glasses. Your eyes and brain have to do a bit more to take in what you are viewing. The focal point always stays clear. Other pics in the foreground and background might be blurry because of this. What I'm saying is if a car speeds past the foreground you're supposed to see a blurred image. When a car speeds past you in real life and your view is fixed you don't see a crystal image, there is a natural blur effect. Just don't think the display is bad because something that was not the focal point was blurred a bit. I have to point that out because some people are complaining, but they just don't get it. Also, definetly use your plasma for a few days for it to settle in because I noticed more artifacts the first day than a few days later.
Anyways, 3D! The best effects of 3D I have seen so far is def the 3d-bluray, monsters vs aliens. I actually gave a lil flinch at the begining of the movie when the guy is playing with a paddle ball, nice! Haven't popped in Cloudy with a Chance yet. The best PS3 3D download of the 4, IMO is Motorstorm. There are smoke particle effects that are really good and that shows the brilliance of the display itself. But 3D really adds nuances that multiply the immersive effects throughout the entire game. Your car and the other AI cars kicking out mud towards the screen as you mash the gas pedal, hitting a ramp and flying toward the transition on the other side of a mountain, and driving through the over-grown brush that happens to be on the dirt path, etc. I can't wait for some full 3D games to come out because these demos must've been made with minimum detail. MLB The Show is just a great game, but I know it could have been a hell of a lot better with max 3D tuning. 3D is most prominent during the pitching/batting sequence. The batter in the box pops, and def the HUD. Stardust HD had very little 3D effect I felt. WipEout HD is a full3D game but I never liked WipEout. But from the demo of it I downloaded, it seems the craft pops from the picture the most. Haven't seen any burn in (Image Retention), after playing.
2D to 3D upconversion added a little depth to the view. I had a good time playing Skate3 on it. But let me say I haven't updated my firmware yet. I actually thought 2D to 3D upconvert worked better with standard channels versus HD channels. And I think Sony did a better job with 2d upconvert to 3D because I demoed a Bravia in a Sony Style store. You can't expect too much from this feature with either brand anyway. It adds some depth from the foreground to the background, like the people on the far side of the pitch (field) at the World Cup seemed more distant than in non 3D. The glasses are comfy it really just adds a tint when they are activated. I think 3D shades would be more appropriate.

I love this TV. It has great black levels without losing details. Seriously
the blacks get as dark as the bezel in a darkened room. Great color accuracy.
Handles motion like a champ even converting 2D to 3D. Menus are very responsive
and even the widgets are snappy. Samsung Apps/Netflix works great too. I am
really having fun with the 2D to 3D conversion watching sports and playing video
games. I watched Avatar the other night, and even though it wasn't released
on 3D Blu ray, the built in converter made it look great. I was nervous about
Burn In/ Image Retention, but so far watching 2.39:1 movies hasn't caused any
issues that don't take care of themselves switching video sources. I need to
say that there is a buzz sound, but its pretty quiet. Can't hear it at all with
any audible tv volume. My only major beef with this set is the Audio Return
Channel and Optical Out only send 2 channel (stereo) audio unless its source
is broadcast. So, my PS3 and cable box will only play dolby directly through
my receiver - which in my opinion makes ARC pointless. I hope they change that
in an upcoming firmware patch. This TV replaced a
UN55B8000
because I was unhappy with its blacks losing details, motion blur, flashlight
effect, and sluggish menus and widgets. I experience none of these problems
with this new set. I couldn't be happier.

Well after Amazon's usual service and delivery I just could not wait to hook up the Samsung 3D Blu-ray to the new PN58C7000 Samsung Plasma 3D TV.
And I was not disappointed. The made for 3D Monsters vs Aliens was understandably outstanding, it was created just for this. But the 1966 2001 A Space Odyssey on Blu-ray was equally impressive with nice depth. The pen in the space liner sequence floated out in front of the screen. The entrance into the space dock was likewise rendered with depth making the movie quite a bit more enjoyable than with the 3D turned off. .
I suspect we will all be watching in 3D more and more. I am glad that I waited and paid the small difference in price. .
I'll let someone else help with the decision about the black filter that is
the difference between the
C7000 and
C8000. .
And when can we have something about 85" Samsung? .

I looked at many reviews and settled on the PN58C8000. I was replacing a 5 year old Sony HD rear projection. I wanted something thinner, so when you walk into the room you don't see a side of a TV. I leaned plasma given the response time, viewing angle, and value/$ relative to the LCD/LEDs. I did not want to have any motion blur given I am a gamer as well. So, this TV is great. Solid picture and the settings another reviewer recommended seemed to work well.
No buzzing as some reviews noted. I was amazed at how easily it connected (wired) to my network for the apps and the model number was already available as an add-on to my Harmony 900 remote. The TV is a bit shiny, but most of them are. The TV is in a media room, so it is dark most of the time. The color of the TV is graphite in color, which is a step up from the 7000 which apparently is just black.
I figured if I am upgrading I might as well get one which is 3D ready. However, I did not purchase the Blue Ray or Glasses yet. Reasons why: (1) there is no content available (even AVATAR isn't out in 3D). (2) I have a PS3 and later this year it will be able to process 3D Blue Rays, (3) XpanD X103 3D Glasses will be available in July (I emailed the manufacturer)and they can be used on any 3D TV and at the theater...for about $129/each. They are supposed to have a better refresh rate to lessen any side-effects from watching 3D. So, wait a month and then be able to try the 2D to 3D conversion, then by Xmas be able to play true 3D DVDs.

This tv is by far an awesome tv. i have had it for 3 weeks and am blown away by the video quality. all the apps and everything are awesome. the quality is almost too real for anyone to get used to but no complains there. One thing you definitely do notice the first time you watch any hd content is some kinda juddering in the images. it is distracting. i contacted the support center several times and they had me try different settings on the tv, none of which solved the issue. at this point a service technician is coming out to check and tv and see what he can find defective. if he can't solve the issue i might think of sending the tv back. sad but i dont want to just put up with some issues after paying a heavy price tag. please be aware of this issue. i dont think samsung themselves are aware of this issue and no how to fix it. if they are able to fix it i will post an update to this reivew. try to hold off on buying for now.
